WalkBuddy ("we," "our," or "us"), operated by 19 Consult Limited, is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle your personal information, sensitive data, and physical activity/health data when you use the WalkBuddy mobile application (the "App") and website (walkbuddy.app).
1. Access, Collection, and Use of Health & Physical Activity Data
To provide our core app functions—such as tracking step totals, monitoring daily fitness targets, and calculating walking activity—WalkBuddy accesses, collects, and processes Health & Physical Activity data.
- Types of Data Accessed & Collected: Step count, physical activity status, walking distance, and fitness data.
- Source of Data: Built-in device motion sensors/pedometers, Apple Health (HealthKit), Android Physical Activity permissions, and Google Health Connect.
- User Consent & Control: We access health and activity data only after receiving your explicit permission via standard operating system consent prompts. You may grant, modify, or revoke access at any time through your device settings.
- Purpose of Processing: Health and physical activity data is accessed and used strictly and exclusively to display step counts, calculate goal progress, and render historical activity logs within the WalkBuddy app interface.
2. Health & Sensitive Data Protection Commitments
In compliance with Google Play’s User Data Policy and Health Content & Services Policy (including Health Connect and Health Data rules), as well as Apple HealthKit guidelines:
- No Advertising or Marketing: We do not use health, fitness, or step count data for advertising, targeted marketing, re-targeting, cross-app tracking, or behavioral profiling.
- No Sale of Data: We do not sell, rent, lease, or trade your health or personal activity data to third parties, data brokers, or advertisers.
- Third-Party Sharing Restrictions: Health and physical activity data is never shared with third parties except where strictly required to deliver core app features requested directly by you, or where mandated by applicable law.
3. Data Storage, Security, and Retention
- Local Storage First: Daily activity logs and step metrics are stored locally on your device whenever possible.
- Data Transmission Security: Any data transmitted off-device is secured using modern cryptographic encryption protocols (HTTPS / TLS 1.3).
- Data Retention & Deletion: We retain user data only for as long as necessary to provide core app functionality. You may request complete account and health history deletion at any time in-app or by contacting us at hello@walkbuddy.app.
4. Children’s Privacy
WalkBuddy is not intended for children under 13 years of age (or 16 in certain jurisdictions). We do not knowingly collect personal or health-related data from children.
